The 2011 Bartók Seminar and Festival took place in Szombathely with tremendous success.
The September issue of the journal Muzsika devoted several articles to the event.
“The 27th International Bartók Festival of Szombathely organized by Filharmónia Budapest Non-profit Company between July 1st and 18th attracted visitors with its particularly rich programme offer. In addition to highly appealing master classes and the already customary varied and exciting parallel events – lectures, an exhibition, CD and music fair – a sensational international musicological conference formed also part of the programme: it was held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Bartók Archives of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Striving for perfection in every respect, the high standard of professors who conducted the courses and the thorough grounding of the students attending them, the close and deep relationship between courses and concerts all contributed to the intensive and stimulating intellectual atmosphere. A special phenomenon this year was the close correlation between the conductor’s course led by Zoltán Peskó and László Tihanyi as well as the singing and violin courses, which yielded valuable extra results and experiences to everybody.”
