Zoltán Peskó

Zoltán Peskó was born in 1937 in Budapest. He studied at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and studied further in Italy and Switzerland.

Following his debut at La Scala (where he has been a regular guest ever since), he has travelled far and wide in a career comprising opera and concert appearances with orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, Radio Symphonic Orchestra, French National Radio, BBC Symphony and Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam. His extensive repertoire stretches from the renaissance to the contemporary music. In 1973 Zoltán Peskó was named the Chief Conductor of the Teatro Communale, Bologna and three years later took the same position at the Teatro La Fenice, Venice. From 1978-83 he was the Musical Director of the RAI Orchestra in Milan and working as the music Director of the Deutsche Oper, Düsseldorf-Duisburg.

He has made numerous recordings. At the moment he is the chief musical director of the Lisbon Opera and the leading conductor of the Portugal Symphonic Orchestra.
